Movie-fans are in for a treat this October, as the Hollywood studios begin to unleash their big-name blockbuster movies for the season. From a notorious comic-book villain to an undead sequel, here’s what to look out for this month!
Joker
Release date: 4 October 2019
There’s been a lot of buzz around Todd Phillips’ (The Hangover) director Todd Phillips may have seemed like a strange choice to helm a Joker movie based on the iconic Batman villain; but if the reviews are anything to go by, this looks to be a classic in the making. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Joker takes the form of a character piece rather than a blockbuster superhero film, chronicling Arthur Fleck’s decent into madness.
Gemini Man
Release date: 11 October 2019
Will Smith has had some good and bad film in recent years, but his new sci-fi action thriller from Ang Lee looks to be a winner. Smith plays Henry Brogan, who is pursued by a mysterious young doppelgänger operative who seems to be able to predict Brogan’s every move. Clive Owen and Benedict Wong also star.
Zombieland: Double Tap
Release date: 25 October 2019
The highly-anticipated sequel to 2009’s Zombieland is finally arriving in cinemas this month, and once again stars the same unlikely foursome played by Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin as they continue trying to survive a zombie-apocalypse. This time, they have to ensure the growing-pains of their bizarre makeshift family, while learning to trust some new survivors on their journey.
