Are you looking to reinvent yourself in 2017 but don’t want to set yourself up for failure? Here are a few steps you can follow to ensure that you stay on track with this year’s resolutions.

 

1. Keep your resolutions reasonable.

Some people will set broad resolutions which essentially mean an overhaul for their entire lifestyle, and this is inevitably setting yourself up for failure. Rather focus on specific habits you wish to break, or specific self-improvements and work towards those. Also, by focusing on single goals they become easier to manage and adjust while working toward them.

 

2. Take support where you need it.

If you happen to fall back on your resolution don’t give up, rather rely on your support system of family and friends when you’re in need. Those close to you can help motivate you, give you advice on how to achieve your goals or give you an different perspective on how to work toward your resolutions.

3. Treat yourself 

Lift your own spirits once in awhile be rewarding your own progress. Whether it’s a cheat meal, spending money on something expensive or taking a night on the town; spoiling yourself while working toward your new years resolutions can go a long way to helping you keep a positive attitude.

 

4. Make different resolutions each year

If the new years resolutions that you made last year didn’t go to plan rather work toward different goals this year. By diversifying your new years resolutions each year you won’t be cementing any bad habits, and you’ll also be able to find out where your specific strengths lie.

 

5. Allow yourself a trial run

It’s highly unlikely that you’ll be successful in achieving your goals right off the bat, so allow yourself a trial run to anticipate any obstacles that you might encounter. Whether it’s breaking bad habits or enforcing good ones, take small steps in the November and December months to see how you react before setting the resolution on NYE.
