7 Of The Weirdest Cellphones Ever Sold

0

When it comes to mobile technology, there have been some devices whose design is so out-of-the-box that they are downright weird. Here are ten cellphones that are so crazy, they actually fall into the cool category.

Marlboro 508

This Chinese-made budget phone has pretty standard low-end hardware, but what sets it apart is that the fact that it’s shaped like a cigarette box! A 13 MP camera is hidden on the side of the phone, allowing you to take “spy shots”.

Nokia 7600

Another awkwardly shaped phone, the Nokia 7200 was the second 3G phone made by the company. Its unique shape was meant to be something of a “fashion statement”. Unfortunately, texting on the phone was near impossible and it was soon cut from the production line.

Xelibri Series

These weird phones were manufactured by Siemens in early 2003 and were marketed as high-end fashion accessories. Despite by designed by top fashion designers, the Xelibri range was unpopular, and following poor sales, they were eventually discontinued.

GoldVish LeMillion

Designed by a Swedish manufacturer specialising in luxury cellphones the GoldVish LeMillion is decorated with 18k white gold and 20 carats of diamonds. It currently holds the Guinness World Record for “The Most Expensive Cellular Phone Ever Sold” at one million Euros.

Golden Buddha Phone

Another jewel-encrusted cellphone, this one comes covered in 24-karat paint, pearl-powdered lacquer and authentic jade. This phone is available exclusively in China, and retailers for around $1 700.

Haier P7

Is it a pen? Is it a phone? Chinese manufacturer Haier is responsible for this quirky “pen phone”. It comes complete with a colour screen, VGA camera and a USB port. However, ironically enough, you can’t write down anything with this device.

Motorola StarTAC Rainbow

This one was part of the popular Motorola StarTAC series, but this particular model stood out for obvious reasons. Released in 1997, it was equipped with the standard features of cellphones at the time: SMS and 2G connectivity.
