DIY Valentine’s Day

0

Being a February baby, naturally it is my favourite month of the year. So it comes as no surprise when the world shares my excitement – albeit for a different reason. February welcomes the month of love and with it, Valentine’s Day.

With just over a week before we celebrate what is considered the most romantic day of the year (or not, depending on who you ask), advertisers bombard us with so many gift options that choosing one can be difficult, as we wrack our brains trying to process it all. And with the recent and constant cost of living increases, choosing the perfect gift (that fits the budget) can be daunting. Thankfully, February 14th has more to do with the thought behind the gift, than the price tag attached to it.

That said, I’ve decided to play DIY cupid and give you a few options to help you out this Valentine’s Day:

Picnic for you and yours

Pack a picnic basket and head for the park, beach or even your own backyard with your sweetheart. This is a very cost effective option and being able to watch the sunset together adds instant romance.

The food of love

Homemade cookies are easy to make and easy to adorn with love. However, if baking is not your thing, check out local stores and their assortment of novelty cookies.

A family affair

If you’re a parent, why not get your child involved in making a Valentine’s gift for your partner? All you need is some colour board or paper, craft supplies and voilà! A handwritten letter or handmade card is just a moment away – and it’s always a real winner.

Giving your pet a Valentine’s gift is not as uncommon as you would imagine. So why not make some pet-friendly treats for your four-legged friend?

If cooking, baking and crafts are not your thing, keep it old school – flowers and candy are technically synonymous with Valentine’s Day.

So, whether you’ve been with your partner for more years than you can remember, or if you’ve just plucked up the courage to ask your secret crush to be your Valentine, these ideas are not only easy to pull off, but easy on the pocket, too.

Wishing you a Valentine’s Day to remember!
