Fitbit Alta – Combining Substance And Style

0

It’s arguable that Fitbit is the world leader in wearable activity tracking devices, having released more than ten different tracking devices around the world since their founding in 2007.

Despite their popularity, one thing Fitbit has never been praised for is how fashionable their devices are.

Which is why the Fitbit Alta is going in a more stylish direction, available in a variety of different colours, and with either metal or leather straps, the Fitbit Alta is a device for the more fashion conscious gym goer.

A sleeker, more refined finish

In a world of clunky, oversized fitness devices the Fitbit Alta brings a more sleek and polished design. It’s more narrow strap and thinner face mean that the device can fit comfortably under long sleeves. It also isn’t as cumbersome while training as other wearable trackers can be. The Fitbit Alta also has an interchangeable strap, allowing to switch between different coloured straps easily.

Another noticeable style difference is the Alta’s lack of buttons. Instead, it makes use of a tap-sensitive screen, making sure you don’t need to fumble with buttons mid-workout but it also gives the Alta a more modern and streamlined look and feel.

Workout ready

But what about the functionality of the Fitbit Alta? The feature that stands out most is the Alta’s ability to differentiate between different types of exercise. After 15 minutes of activity the device will automatically go into one of five modes; outdoor cycling, running, walking, elliptical trainer or general cardio. This is useful because it allows you to align your exercise stats with the type of exercise, giving you a better idea of how productive your workout was.

Any fitness expert will tell you that your resting between workouts can be just as important as exercise. Because the Alta has a low-profile design, it’s comfortable enough the wear to bed, giving you accurate sleep monitoring every morning.

While the Fitbit Alta has a minimalist look and feel, there are a variety of complex and useful apps that can be accessed using Fitbit software via your smartphone.

Using the apps you’ll have access to graphs, calorie counters, exercise routines and personal goal meters, all allowing you to keep track of your entire exercise routine and how successful your workout is currently.
