If you are anything like me and most of the people in our office, your humanity only kicks in after your first deliciously hot and lifesaving cup of coffee. Every type of coffee has its own unique flavour, whether created from the berry, the roast or the blend. There are so many varieties to choose from, that it begs to question whether you’re drinking the right blend for you?

The best of advice I received when it comes to coffee drinking is “judge your coffee on a scale of sweet to tart (stronger acidity – more robust)”.

There two main types of coffee: Arabica beans (you will find these at most specialty coffee stores or cafes) and Robusta beans.

Arabica beans tend to be a bit pricier and are generally used in espressos and cappuccinos. Robusta beans, on the other hand, are best suited for when you are in desperate need of caffeine fix. The convenience of popping into your nearest cafe for “your usual” is what gets many of us through a nine-hour day. It is, therefore, considered a good investment for any coffee lover to make an equally enjoyable cuppa at home. Pods and espresso machines are a great investment, and easy enough to use in the comfort of your own home. Getting your coffee fix at home is more economical, too. You can alternate coffee flavours by purchasing a mix of blends, to find the one that best suits your daily caffeine needs.

Different roasts within the sweet to tart spectrum:

If your passion for coffee is unwavering, you really cannot go wrong with spoiling yourself with an espresso machine, especially when you can do it in the name of love for Valentine’s Day! Coffee love!
