Review: Halo 4 – Xbox 360

0

It’s been 4 years since the events of Halo 3! From the outset you’re going to be under immense pressure – to say the least! Covenant and Promethean forces, a strange planet named Requiem and the emergence of something called a Didact, are just a few challenges you’ll have to face! Halo 4 is a thrill-a-second journey – are you ready?

Platform: Xbox 360

Genre: First-person shooter

Game mode: single player; multiplayer

The story begins where Halo 3 ended. Master Chief John-117 is awakened from cryonic sleep by Cortana because the remnants of the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn has drifted in the gravity well of a planet known as Requiem.

John doesn’t have much time to orientate himself because Covenant and Promethean forces board their ship, which crash-lands on the interior of the planet. Unfortunately, for an unknown reason, Cortana begins to experience “rampancy” – the only way to save Cortana is to find the creator, a scientist named Catherine Halsey.

In the midst of this, they receive a jumbled message that Infinity is on its way and Cortana asks John to fix a “communication jammer”

In trying to do so, Master Chief releases the Didact, an ancient Forerunner warrior! Just like Forward Unto Dawn, Infinity is dragged into the gravity well and is attacked by Covenant and Promethean forces who are now controlled by the Didact – it’s an all-out battle. The only option is to try and destroy the gravity well so that Infinity can escape.

Master Chief

In attempting to accomplish this, Master Chief is contacted by the Librarian – another Forerunner. From this point onwards you are going to discover revelations and tragedies that you never though were possible – you better be prepared!

Remember the Flood? What about an object called the Composer? You are going to have to be careful; your – and others – survival is at stake; heed these words.

The gameplay is fantastic! Your player has a head-up display (HUD), which displays real-time information as well as ally and enemy tracking.

There are also various gameplay modes from which you can choose; you can play alone or decide on co-op play, via split screen; through Xbox Live, you can add up to 3 players. There is also a multiplayer component called “infinity” in which you play a Spartan-IV super-soldier.

 Verdict: 9/10
