Naked Malt Scotch Whisky is a blended malt whisky that is based around malt whisky from Highland Park and Macallan. It is packaged very simply and is a superb value-for-money blended malt. The whisky has a color that is more of an amber appearance than the standard Famous Grouse blend which would be explained by the aging in first-fill sherry casks. The dried fruits that appear on the nose are berry and citrus focused, especially orange aromas. The body is a little slick and peppery hot on the finish with dark honey and a moderate amount of malt on the palate. The finish is pleasant, though the blend is not as integrated and seamless as it could be.

Whisky at its most uncomplicated. Convention said that blended malt got its flavour from bourbon casks, used again and again. This got us thinking What if instead, we used first fill sherry casks to add another layer of rich and fruity flavour to our malts? It didn t just work, it was a joyful exuberance of flavour that changed the possibilities of whisky enjoyment. So hats off (and everything off!) to Naked Malt, for taking a liberating leap into the unknown.
