Spider-Man: Homecoming is a 2017 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to 2016's Captain America: Civil War and the thirteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was written and directed by Jon Watts, from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Holland stars as Peter Parker, a teenager who becomes Spider-Man after being inspired by Captain America. Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, and Jon Favreau reprise their roles from Civil War, and are joined by Tony Stark, who is portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. in a cameo appearance. The film was released in the United States on July 7, 2017, and received positive reviews from critics.
