This drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 128MB cache, a rotational speed of 5400 rpm, and a sustained data transfer rate of up to 140 MB/s, while featuring high levels of reliability, with 1 in 1014non-recoverable read errors per bits. Using QuietStep Ramp Load technology, this drive is able to control how fast the heads load and unload, thus making the acoustics of the operation quieter and more consistent than if the velocity was uncontrolled. QuietStep is also able to limit how often the drive draws back into idle mode.
