Kristiana von Lange, an Austrian countess once linked romantically with Emily's fianc, the debonair Colin Hargreaves, is also a guest at the party. At the party, the host is found murdered, and Colin's husband, Robert Brandon-Ivy's husband, is arrested for the crime. Emily decides to put Colin in danger in order to exonerate Robert.
