This is a description of the Carrera eyewear company. The company was founded in 1956 by Austrian Wilhelm Anger, and it became known for its boarder to boarder sports car racing event, the Carrera Panamericana. In 1964, Anger developed and patented optyl, and renamed his company Optyl International. In 1974, the company expanded to include a line of sunglasses, and it became well-known for its CARRERA Porche Design sunglasses. The reputation of the brand grew during the following decades, and it became the brand of choice for podium athletes. In 1988, the company introduced its first self-titled men's cologne, and it has since released other popular colognes, such as the low sillage, citrus-based CARRERA Emotion, the musky CARRERA Black, the aromatic CARRERA Master, and the seductive CARRERA Red. Inspired by the Carrera Panamericana, a boarder to boarder sports car
racing event that took place yearly in Mexico from 1950 to 1954,
Austrian Wilhelm Anger named his new eyewear company CARRERA after the
iconic road rally when he founded his company in 1956. In 1964 after
developing and patenting optyl, Anger renamed his company Optyl
International and devoted it to the production of motorcycle goggles
and ski masks. Renamed CARRERA International in 1974 the company
expanded to include a line of sunglasses such as the iconic CARRERA
Porche Design, which soon found a following among the sporting classes.
The reputation of the brand grew during the following decades through
the sponsorship of various events and as the brand of choice for podium
athletes. CARRERA's line of products were also expanded in the late
1980s to include sports related goods, fragrances and cycling wear.
The CARRERA fragrance line was introduced in conjunction with Muelhens
in 1988. CARRERA's first self titled men's cologne is a refreshing
natural fragrance suitable for daytime wear. Other popular CARRERA
men's colognes include the low sillage, citrus based CARRERA Emotion,
which is perfect for office wear, the musky CARRERA Black which is
suitable for evening or casual wear, the aromatic CARRERA Master which
is suitable for office wear and the seductive CARRERA Red.
