Description
Potassium sorbate is a preservative that is used to preserve DIY cosmetic products. It is effective against mold and yeast, but is not effective against bacteria. Sodium benzoate is used together with potassium sorbate to be more effective against fungi and bacteria. Potassium sorbate is not effective at all in products with a pH over 6, so please adjust your formulation accordingly. Vitamin E is included in the formulation as an antioxidant.
Potassium sorbate can be used to preserve all kinds of DIY cosmetic products like creams, lotions, shampoos, makeup and sunscreen products.
Potassium sorbate is the inactive salt of sorbic acid, which is activated on contact with water.
It is effective against mold and yeast, but is not effective against bacteria. Therefore is is most commonly used together with sodium benzoate, which is effective against fungi and bacteria.

HOW TO USE POTASSIUM SORBATE
Usage rate: 0.1-0.3%
Dissolve in the water phase.
Adjust the final pH to around 4.4 for maximum efficacy.
