Gentian is also said to be a bitter which may be used to stimulate the appetite and digestion by stimulating the digestive juices, to accelerate the emptying of the stomach, to reduce fever and anaemia, and to have a generally fortifying effect. Gentian is also said to be a sialagogue, a hepatic, a cholagogue, an antimicrobial, anthelmintic, and emmenagogue. However, it should not be used if you have gastric or duodenal ulcers, and it may cause headaches. It should not be used if pregnant or breastfeeding.

AS A TEA
Put tsp of root in a cup of water and boil for 5 min. Drink warm 15-30 min before meals or when acute stomach aches.
