Karoo Incana is a shrub from the Pteronia genus that is endemic to South Africa. It is used to treat respiratory infections and loosen phlegm and mucus. The essential oil has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Karoo Incana is a dense, low shrub that has highly fragrant light grey leaves covered in woolly, whitish hairs and single flower heads. It is the most well known of the 70 species of Pteronia, a genus of small woody shrubs from Southern Africa. It is endemic to South Africa and occurs all the way from East London in the Eastern Cape, throughout the Western Cape up to the Namibian border in the Northern Cape. It is used to treat respiratory infections and loosen phlegm and mucus, and has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
