Description
A micrometer is a precision measuring tool that can measure a smaller range of lengths than a vernier caliper. It can be digital or analog, and has an accuracy of 0.001mm - digital and 0.01mm - analog. Micrometers are typically used to measure small dimensions, such as the length of a screw or the diameter of a bolt. Before using a micrometer, make sure the workpiece is clean and free of burrs. The temperature of the workpiece is also important - it should be around 20C to provide consistent measuring results.
