This study looks at the legal theories of three eminent public lawyers of the Weimar era, Carl Schmitt, Hans Kelsen, and Hermann Heller. Schmitt and Kelsen focused on the relationship between law and legitimacy, while Heller focused on the relationship between law and the state. Dyzenhaus demonstrates their relevance to contemporary debates by analyzing their theories.
