Description
This module covers basic mathematics for aviation maintenance technicians, as required by EASA Part 66/147 for B1 and B2 ratings. It is a review for most students, but those new to these principles may need additional training. The module covers arithmetic, algebra, and geometry, including topics such as fractions, equations, and trigonometry. The goal is to provide the necessary mathematical knowledge for certified maintenance professionals. The manual is divided into three chapters, each covering different topics in detail.
This module contains instruction in basic mathematics for the aviation maintenance technician as prescribed by EASA Part 66/147 for the B1, B2 rating. For most students, this module is a review of the principles learned previously in life. Those being exposed to these mathematic principles for the first time may require remedial training. There are many applications for mathematics in aviation maintenance. the goal of Module 1 is to review the basic mathematic knowledge that a certified maintenance professional will need. This manual is presented in 3 chapters: 1] Arithmetic Arithmetical terms and signs, methods of multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, factors and multiples, weights, measures, and conversion factors, ratio and proportion, averages and percentages, areas and volumes, squares, cubes, and square and cube roots 2] Algebra a) Evaluating simple algebraic expressions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, use of brackets, simple algebraic fractions. b) Linear equations and their solutions, indices and powers, negative and fractional indices, binary and other applicable numbering systems, simultaneous equations and second degree equations with one unknown, logarithms. 3] Geometry a) Simple geometrical constructions. b) Graphical representation, nature and uses of graphs, functions. c) Basic trigonometry, trigonometrical relationships, use of tables, and rectangular and polar coordinates.
