Description
The Knysna Health website sells zinc lozenges for use as an immune booster, for hayfever, and for sore throats. The lozenges contain zinc as acetate dihydrate, and honey. PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION
Zinc is known to have a major influence on the development and integrity of host defences against infection. The barrier functions of the skin and of the pulmonary and gastrointestinal tract are diminished by zinc deficiency.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS OF USE
Suck one lozenge slowly three times daily. Do not chew. Best after meals, preferably avoiding any food or liquids for half an hour as this can cancel out the local zinc ion effect. The dry mouth after-effect is a desirable effect.

Possible gastric distress, nausea and vertigo.
