Description
The statue is of Jesus, who is called the Lamb of God. The Lamb of God is chosen by God to be sacrificed, because he was firstborn, without spot or blemish. When the children of Israel picked the firstborn lambs of their flocks, exquisite, perfect to be used for breeding purposes, it was indeed a sacrifice for many of them. But God didn't choose among his sheep; he selected his Beloved Son, in whom he was well pleased. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Jesus accepted the call of his Father, and thus he became the Lamb of God.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)
Why was Jesus called the Lamb of God? Some might say that it was because he was as peaceful as a lamb; others would say that it might be because he went like a lamb to the slaughter; And they would not be wrong. But the most heartfelt reason of all is that he was chosen by God to be sacrificed, because he was firstborn, without spot or blemish. When the children of Israel picked the firstborn lambs of their flocks, exquisite, perfect to be used for breeding purposes, it was indeed a sacrifice for many of them.
But God didn't choose among his sheep; he selected his Beloved Son, in whom he was well pleased For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)
Imagine that choice; He only had one son who did his bidding in all things, everyone else, every son and daughter of God chose to follow their own ways to varying degrees, becoming Gods unto themselves. But God really loved all those wayward children of his. Even those who would deny him, and even curse and hate him. What caused him to ask Jesus to be the Lamb to be slaughtered?
God didn't decide that the wages of sin is death. That is an eternal law that he has to enforce. If he did not, but decided to make exceptions, he would cease to be God, since the entire existence would lose respect for the God who would not uphold justice.
But the ends of all creation will respect and accept mercy upon the sinner who has a broken heart and a contrite spirit. But the death must still be enforced upon the sinner. How can this equation be solved. There was only one way, and God knew it.
So God asked Jesus to become the sinner-by proxy, and take the just death. The Father had mercy enough on all men to ask Jesus if he would do it. Did Jesus have mercy enough to accept the calling? Jesus accepted the call of his Father, and thus he became the Lamb of God.
Jehovah (Jesus) understood how horrible it was for his Father to ask him to be the sacrificial lamb. He showed this, and conveyed it to Abraham and the rest of the world by asking Abraham to sacrifice his only begotten son:
1 AND it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
