The founder of the bag, Thierry Sabine, is a French man who lost his bike in the desert of Libya during the Abidjan-Nice Rally in 1977. Saved from the sands, he returns to France still stuck in that landscape and promising himself that he would share his fascination with as many people as possible. He started to create a route that started in Europe, continuing until Algiers and crossing Agadez before ending up in Dakar.

Ideas, the plan quickly became a reality. Since then, the Paris-Dakar, a unique event characterised by the spirit of adventure, open to all pilots and carrying a message of friendship between all men, has never failed to challenge, surprise and excite. Over almost thirty years, it has generated countless sports and human stories.
