The Dakar Rally is a long-distance motorcycle race that started in 1977. Thierry Sabine, the founder of the Dakar Rally, lost his bike in the desert of Libya during the Abidjan-Nice Rally and decided to create a route that started in Europe, continuing until Algiers and crossing Agadez before ending up in Dakar. The Dakar Rally is a unique event that is open to all pilots and carries a message of friendship between all men.

The adventure started in 1977, when Thierry Sabine lost his bike in the desert of Libya during the Abidjan-Nice Rally. Saved from the sands, he returns to France still stuck in that landscape and promising himself that he would share his fascination with as many people as possible. He started to create a route that started in Europe, continuing until Algiers and crossing Agadez before ending up in Dakar.
The founder coined a motto for his.inspiration: A challenge for those who go. A dream for those who are left behind. .. Courtesy of his great conviction and that little bit of madness peculiar to his great ones.
Ideas, the plan quickly became a reality. Since then, the Paris-Dakar, a unique event characterised by the spirit of adventure, open to all pilots and carrying a message of friendship between all men, has never failed to challenge, surprise and excite. Over almost thirty years, it has generated countless sports and human stories.
