Gamblin Flake White Replacement is a nontoxic alternative to Flake White that is leaner and has a beautiful opalescent quality. It is also a terrific underpainting white. Flake White Replacement has all the working properties of traditional Flake White, including a long ropey stroke, warm color, translucency, and short brush mark. It does not suffer from the fast drying time of traditional formulations, which contributes to the cracking of oil paintings over time.
