The Sugarbird Cape Fynbos Rum is a Jamaican-made rum that is triple distilled and aged in American bourbon and sherry oak barrels. It has a dark and bold flavor with typical characteristics of Jamaican rum. The master blender, Edmund Paulsen, says that the rum "speaks of bourbon, coffee and cocoa flavors overlaid with hints of nuttiness, resulting from the long ageing process." The rum is also enriched with fynbos honey, which gives it a nuttier and greater silky finish.
Sugarbird Cape Fynbos Rum is a celebration of unique Cape Fynbos heritage married with the rich complexity of Jamaican-style Cape Pot still Rum - smooth dark and amber.
Aged for four years in bourbon casks, enhancing the sun-ripened raisin and buttery flavours, and triple distilled in blackstrap molasses - it is full of rich, complex potstill flavour but, of course, true to Sugarbird roots, naturally, it is infused with protea nectar.
Top notes of vanilla, bourbon, coffee and cocoa, overlaid with hints of nutiness, tropical honey, and subtle protea nectar, resulting in a finish that is all creamy vanilla and brown sugar.
Expect a finish that is all creamy vanilla and brown sugar. Mature enough to serve as an elegant sipper, while still feisty enough to shine in cocktails.
