Hampden Estate is one of only two remaining independent distilleries in Jamaica and is often considered to be of the best in the world.
Founded in 1753, it has been distilling rum for almost three centuries in the Trelawny Parish, historically known as the grand cru of Jamaican rum. In 2009, Hampden Estate started to age its pure single rums, opening a new era in the world of spirits. Hampden Estate is known for producing a large variety of distillates. Depending on multiple parameters such as the length of the fermentation or the addition of dunder, the distillery will produce a specific type of rum.
LROK stands for Light Rum Owen Kelly, one of several marks made at Hampden Estate and refers to a rum with a high ester concentration, ranging from 200 to 400 g/hLPA. This mark created in 1952 belongs to the Wedderburn Category, i.e., the heavy rums. In this case the ester content is of 334,7 gr/hLPA. Hampden Estate 2010 LROKhas been aged for 11 years in the tropical Jamaican climate, equivalent to almost 44 years of maturation in the European climate.
