Care and Use:
As its name suggests, whetstones are used when wet. Before sharpening your knives, soak your Soshida Japanese Whetstone in a small water container for 20 minutes.
While sharpening your knife, be sure that your whetstone never goes dry. For the best performance and longevity of your whetstone, keeping it wet while in use is one of the most important rules.
To extend the life and usability of your whetstone, remove any microscopic metal pieces with a firm bristled brush, then, using soap and water ensure that your whetstone is thoroughly cleaned after each sharpening session.
Once you have cleaned your whetstone, you'll want to store it in a safe place where it won't get damaged. In a safe place in the kitchen is your best bet, or in a dedicated slot in your knife bag.
