Jackson's Wooden Panels are made of smooth, sanded light plywood, reinforced on the reverse to prevent warping. Sturdy yet lightweight, they are perfect for plein air painting projects and work in the studio.
These panels are made from wood and they are not supplied sealed. This means that liquids are absorbed into the surface and if they get too 'wet', there could be a swelling of the veneer. If the panel is to be used for painting then you should seal the surface with a quality glue size or an acrylic based primer. When you're applying acrylic gesso primer, avoid thinning it with water.
After sizing we recommend priming with acrylic gesso and sanding the surface to produce a smooth yet slightly absorbent surface.
Jackson's Wooden Panels can also be used for encaustic painting, or as a work support / drawing board.
Available in 20mm (approx. 3/4) and 50mm (approx. 2) deep profiles, in a wide range of sizes.
Please note: as this is a natural product, small cracks can develop on the surface. These can be removed by sanding the surface before applying the sealer or primer.
