Description
This is a description of Jackson's wooden panels. They are made of smooth, sanded light plywood, reinforced on the reverse to prevent warping. They are sturdy yet lightweight, perfect for plein air painting projects and work in the studio. The panels are not supplied sealed, which means that liquids are absorbed into the surface and if they get too wet, there could be a swelling of the veneer. If the panel is to be used for painting, then you should seal the surface with a quality glue size or an acrylic based primer. After sizing, we recommend priming with acrylic gesso and sanding the surface to produce a smooth yet slightly absorbent surface. Jackson's wooden panels can also be used for encaustic painting, or as a work support / drawing board.

If the panel is to be used for painting then you should seal the surface with a quality glue size or an acrylic based primer. When you're applying acrylic gesso primer, avoid thinning it with water.
After sizing we recommend priming with acrylic gesso and sanding the surface to produce a smooth yet slightly absorbent surface.
Jackson's Wooden Panels can also be used for encaustic painting, or as a work support / drawing board.
Available in 20mm (approx. 3/4) and 50mm (approx. 2) deep profiles, in a wide range of sizes.
Please note: as this is a natural product, small cracks can develop on the surface. These can be removed by sanding the surface before applying the sealer or primer.
