When a bank heist results in a hostage situation, suspended detective Conners is recalled and assigned in charge of the operation having the rookie Shane Dekker as partner. The thieves, leaded by a mastermind named Lorenz, manage to escape though and amazingly to the cops apparently do no steal a penny from the bank.
While trying to track down the thieves, the police discover that a computer virus has been implemented into the system, stealing one billion dollars from random and seeminly unrelated accounts, using the principle of the Chaos Theory. Further, they find that Lorenz is killing his accomplices, and it's up to Conners and Dekker to solve the case. But a shocking discovery awaits them.
