Description
The Astio Tan BG009 is a 3.5" blade tactical folder designed by Jared Van Otterloo. It features a recurve tanto blade made out of D2 tool steel with a thickness of 3.7 mm, a compound hollow grind, and a satin finish. The handle is machined out of G10 with a stainless steel sub-frame lock and a caged bearing pivot. The pocket clip is stainless steel with a ceramic ball bearing (tip-up, right carry) and is designed by Jared Van Otterloo.
Way back in 2018, the original Astio was introduced to fill a void in the Begg Knives line-up for a 3.5" blade tactical folder. Designed by Jared Van Otterloo, this new-age pattern was a breath of fresh air and one of our favourite pieces of the year. For what the Bodega is to the spear point blade - i.e. perfection - the Astio is to the tanto shape. Its handle is built around the blade, mimicking it to a certain degree and we just adore everything about it. From the looks to the feel, the flipping action to the rugged build quality, it all works on this knife. We wouldn't hesitate to trust our life to the Astio EDC.
