Description
This is a book about cartoons from the First World War. It is divided into two parts, the first of which is about the war itself and the second of which is about the cartoons that were produced about the war. The book is written by Roy Douglas and it is aimed at a general audience.
This is the final volume of Roy Douglas' presentation of 20th and 19th century history through contemporary cartoons. Cartoons are widely recognised as a uniquely effective point of entry into the history of the modern period. Douglas has collected cartoons produced by the major combatants and often uses them to show how different views were taken of the same event eg invasion of Belgium.
