Description
This study will explore the role of women in economic transformation in southeastern Nigeria during the 1900-1960 period. It will focus on the different cultural zones in the region, and will examine the ways in which gender relations varied among these areas.
This study will analyze the complexity and flexibility of gender relations in Igbo society with emphasis on such major cultural zones as the Anioma, the Ngwa, the Onitsha, the Nsukka, and the Aro.
