Sir Francis Drake, was an English naval vice admiral (1540 - 1596), navigator, slaver runner, and politician of the Elizabethan era. Drake is famous for the second circumnavigation of the world in a single expedition, awarded a knighthood in 1581 and in 1588 second-in-command of the English fleet against the Spanish Armada.
