World mission Sunday 2024 is celebrated on the 2nd last Sunday in the year when the entire global Church comes together to support mission. Pope Pius XI instituted Mission Sunday in 1926 as a way of Inviting Catholics around the world to work together for the evangelization of the world. It is a moment of hopeful solidarity when we as church reaffirm our mission to make disciples; to build community; and to inspire in other a desire to know Christ.
The theme for World Mission Sunday 2024 is "God and Invite everyone to the Banquet." (Mt 22:9)
In celebration World Mission sunday, we join with the Universal Church in bringing hope and healing to those in most need.
Every single donation that is offered to the missions at Masses around the world on Mission Sunday goes to support churches, hospitals, schools and vocations in countries where the Church is new, young or poor. In this way every Catholic community, in every country, sends a powerful message of faith, hope and love on this special day.
