MEK is commonly used in various processes such as gum and resin production, cellulose acetate and nitrocellulose coatings, and vinyl film production. It is also used in the manufacturing of plastics, textiles, paraffin wax, and household products like lacquer, varnishes, and paint remover. MEK has similar properties to acetone but has a higher boiling point and slower evaporation rate. It is also used as a denaturing agent for alcohol and as a cleaning agent.
