Uses
Frankincense, also known as Olibanum, has many varieties, grown in different countries. Although all have very similar properties, the varieties do have specific uses.
The Serrata is considered more effective for health and healing, there is research being done now into its effect on cancer cells.
Frankincense is a very popular incense, believed to be uplifting, comforting and an aid to meditation. Using the oil in a vapourizer will have the same effects.
In aromatherapy Frankincense is used to alleviate stress and anxiety, as well as being a general tonic for the body.
Frankincense has been used for centuries to help healing and for anointing.
It is antiseptic and astringent and as such is beneficial in treating gum disorders, also hair loss.
The oil stimulates cell regeneration so aids healing, reduces appearance of scars and stretch marks and signs of aging.
Frankincense is used to treat arthritis, digestive and respiratory tract disorders, and is a diuretic.
The most valuable elements in Frankincense are monoterpenes which detoxify the liver and kidneys, and sesquiterpenes which go beyond the brain blood barrier, and can therefore stimulate the limbic system and the glands in the brain.

Frankincense can thin the blood, so check if using anti-coagulants or have any blood disorder.
