Description
For this third edition of the Islay Selection, two small batches from the Kilchoman distillery have been selected. These two whiskies are impregnated with a Portuguese influence resulting respectively from an ageing in STR and port wine casks.
The STR cask (Shave, Toast, Re-charred) is a cask that, after having contained red wine, is sanded, toasted and re-burned, which gives the whisky aging inside the typicality of fresh virgin oak and the fruity notes of the first fill red wine.
The first small batch is a blend of bourbon (75%), Portuguese STR wine (20%) and oloroso sherry (5%). The result is a whisky that blends the savory citrus and peaty smoke notes that are emblematic of Kilchoman with the red fruit, spice and milk chocolate notes influenced by the ex-Portuguese STR wine casks.
