Description
This is a description of R&F Encaustics, a type of wax paint. The paint is composed of beeswax, damar resin, and pigments, and is applied to an absorbent ground. It is then fused or re-melted to achieve a range of effects, from glass-like smoothness to rich, impasto-like textures. Malachite green is one of the colors in the paint, and shares a similar bond with azure blue. Warm hues bring out the malachite's bluishness.
A versatile paint for fine artists, R&F Encaustics are composed of beeswax, damar resin and pigments. In a molten state, it is applied to an absorbent ground and then fused, or re-melted, to acheive a range of effects, from glass-like smoothness to rich, impasto-like textures.
Named after the mineral colour that is chemically associated with azurite. Malachite and azurite were some of the only bright greens and blues from ancient times through the 18th Century. Our malachite green shares a similar bond with our azure blue. Warm hues bring out the malachite’s bluishness.
