Please Note: Do NOT mix one Love My Hair dye with another; this will affect the balance of henna and indigo, which may give your hair a blue-green colour. If you are used to using ordinary chemical dyes, your hair may feel dry after switching to natural dye. This is normal, and a coconut oil treatment will restore moisture to your hair. Plant-derived dyes sometimes oxidise after application; it can take up to 24 hours for your hair to attain its final colour. Covering Greys: The best Love My Hair colours for covering grey are Light Auburn, Flame Red, Wine Red, Dark Brown and Soft Black. When Brown is used on hair that has a very high grey percentage, it can make the dyed hair look orange. The Brown dye works beautifully on hair with a little grey, and on non-grey hair. Directions Wash and dry your hair; make sure it*s tangle-free. Mix your dye in a non-metallic bowl. Use 100g of powder for one application to shoulder-length hair; less if you just want to dye your roots. Slowly add warm water to your powder; between 350 and 380ml to 100g powder. Mix into a smooth paste that you can apply easily to your hair, without dripping off. Tip: If your mixture is lumpy, put on your application gloves and squeeze the lumps out by hand. Wearing your application gloves, apply the dye starting at the roots and working your way to the ends of your hair. Apply thickly, with extra attention to grey areas. When your hair is covered, cover it with cling-wrap, then wrap a towel around your head; this prevents drips and keeps the mixture warm. Wipe away any excess dye from your hairline and ears. Leave the dye to develop for 50 minutes to 1.5 hours. A longer development time will give you a more intense colour. After development, rinse your hair until the water runs clear and then shampoo and condition. Your colour will lose intensity gradually after a few weeks, but will keep the grey coverage. To build up intense colour, use the dye about three times in the first month and thereafter once a month. Tip: If your hair feels dry a few days after use, massage about a teaspoon of coconut oil into your hair to restore moisture. Leave on for a couple of hours and then shampoo and condition as normal. Warnings Avoid contact with eyes. Don*t inhale the powder while mixing. Wait at least 1 month after using ordinary hair dye before switching to a natural dye; this gives your hair a chance to recover.
