The punch is threaded onto the tip of the draw stud and brought close to the sheet metal. The die is inserted over the draw stud before the stud is inserted through the pilot hole. The punch is then brought close to the sheet metal to cut the hole.

The Tork Craft Chassis Screw Sheet Metal Punch is a hand tool used to punch a
hole through sheet metal. It is a very simple tool that consists of a punch, die

To set up the punch, first drill a pilot hole into a piece of sheet metal with a
step drill bit, place the die over the draw stud before inserting the stud
through the pilot hole. The punch is then threaded onto the tip of the draw stud
and brought close to the sheet metal.
