Description
This is a description of a wood spade drill bit. The bit is 19mm in diameter and 400mm long. It has a hex shank and can be changed quickly. The bit is made from high carbon steel and is known as a "spade bit." The standard bit is shown on the left, and the Pro series bit is shown on the right. Notice that the Pro series bit has spurs on it to make it faster and more efficient.

Application:
A spade drill bit is used for rough boring in wood. Spade drill bits can be used to drill in:

Manufactured from High carbon steel. Spade bits are also known as paddle bits or butterfly bits.
Standard vs. Pro series:
Notice the two different spade bits in the picture on the left. The one is a standard spade bit and the other is a Pro series spade bit. The Pro series spade bit is equipped with spurs to cut cleaner and faster than standard spade bits. Click here to have a look at the Pro series spade bits.
TIP: To avoid splintering, drill the workpiece from both ends.
